GXPC won silver in the 5th China Youth Volunteer Service Project Competition

Recently, the 5th China Youth Volunteer Service Project Competition and 2020 Volunteer Service Exchange Conference was held in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. The project of "Regional Water Purification-- Benign Regeneration Water Production, Voluntary Service of Rural Revitalization " submitted by the Department of Building Equipment and Environmental Engineering won the National Silver Award.
The finals were jointly hosted by seven ministries and commissions, including the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Central Civilization Office and the Ministry of Civil Affairs. A total of 1,202 projects were submitted by 38 provincial-level and industry organizers. After the preliminary evaluation of the national competition, a total of 1000 projects into the final evaluation. The competition adopts the form of combination of online and offline, that is, online road show defense, offline centralized evaluation, the final selection of 150 gold awards, 350 silver awards, 500 bronze awards.
It is learned that teachers and students from the Department of Building Equipment and Environmental Engineering chose this voluntary service of rural revitalization to change the situation that rainwater is the only living water for a long time in the poor mountainous areas of Northwest China, It is a good model that professional knowledge and skills helps to solve the safety and sanitation problems of villagers' living water.
Since 2016, GXPC volunteer service team investigated northwest of Guangxi villages, collecting tank water samples. They found that the polluted water seriously affected the health of the local residents. The team designed a special water lifting device, by which the water quality after treatment fully meets the national drinking water safety standards. The project was well received by the local government and the masses.
