Faculty of Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering, formerly known as the Department of Civil Engineering in Guangxi Construction School, has a history 50 years with the establishment of the college.
Since it was founded, the department has cultivated more than 10,000 graduates for the society. After the college’s upgrading as higher vocational college, the department has been holding cultivating high-skilled and application-oriented talents in construction as the fundamental task, continuously investing itself in cultivating excellent teachers, developing high-quality specialties and creating excellent academic atmosphere, along with the improving of quality of education and teaching. It has provided a large number of talents to Guangxi construction industry.
Within the 50-year development, the department of Civil Engineering, has been equipped itself with 4 specialties (namely Construction Engineering Technology, Engineering Supervision, Engineering Surveying, Photogrammetric & Romote Sensing Technology). In June 2019, it has 3,698 full-time students, including 2,980 in the major of Construction Engineering Technology, 174 in the major of Engineering Supervision, 449 in the major of Engineering Surveying, and 95 in the major of Photogrammetry &Romote Sensing Technology, making it the largest department in GXPC.
It has 96 teaching and administrative staffs , including 6 professors, 39 associate professors and senior engineers, accounting for 59.2 percent of the total number.75% of teachers are graduated with master’s or doctor’s degree, with a figure of 5 and 52 respectively. There are 1 Excellent Teacher of China, 2 Master Teacher of Guangxi Over 60% of the full-time teachers have double-qualified certificates. In addition, over 50 experienced part-time teachers are employed to mainly responsible for tutoring internship, specialty reform and curriculum construction.
In recent 3 years, with the guidance of faculty teachers, 24 students have won national level prizes, 18 prizes in different competitions with province levels. its teachers and students won the Prize.
The students, guided by teachers of this department,participated in the third and fourth international BIM grand prix held in Hong Kong and won the best BIM technology application award of colleges and universities for two consecutive years of The Best BIM Technology-Design Application in HK International BIM Competition.
